I have over 10 yrs experience teaching swim lessons and swam Varsity at Linfield University. I've taught swim lessons at Carlton Community Pool, West Linn Co-op, the Mittleman Jewish Community Center, Stafford Hills Club, & for WA Special Olympics.

I am a patient, fun, and firm instructor who balances technique work with skill-building games. I also prioritize water safety skills.

In my free time I like to read, hike, and take my snake on walks (yes, really!).

The pool is located at a private residence in Wood Village, OR. For the home-owner's privacy, the address is shared upon booking; to check your drive time, enter "Wood Village Town Center" into your Maps app. The location is approximately 20 min by car from central Portland.

The pool  is in a spacious indoors pool-house. The pool is saltwater, heated to between 85-90 F. In the summer, it is kept a little cooler. It is 32 feet long (10 yards), and ranges from 3-7 feet deep. There is a one-stall restroom in the pool house for changing. The restroom does not have a shower. Please keep bathroom usage to 5 minutes to allow for usage by other guests.

For classes, there is also an additional privacy tent on deck for changing clothes.  Deck changing (dressing your child on the pool deck) is ok for children 4 and under.

Unfortunately, I don't offer partial scheduling/partial refunds for group lessons. Having certain kids in only a few classes of the session would prevent me from keeping to our smaller class sizes. If I allowed for partial scheduling, I'd need to limit all classes to three participants instead of four, so that on weeks those children did participate, there wouldn't be more than 4 kids to a class. Unfortunately, having four participants to a class helps keep classes cost effective for everyone, so at this time, I feel I can't offer this as a solution. If you do need to miss a class, that's totally ok though. I'll bring your child up to speed on what we learned in the last class when they return.

30 minutes, One on one with the instructor. This option is for swimmers 8+ who want to build endurance & improve technique OR for adult learners. We'll work on building your skills and reaching specific goals while getting in a good workout! All skill levels are welcome.

Price varies depending on location (private pool=$60, public pool=$40). Our private pool is 32 feet, aka 10 yards long. You may also request to have your lessons at a public pool that is competition length (25 yards).

Sessions must be scheduled one week in advance (to book pool time). Please email us at heartandshoalswimming@gmail.com to schedule.

  • 30 min private lesson 1x1 w instructor- $60
  • 30 min semi-private lesson with 2-3 swimmers -$40 per swimmer
  • Group Classes- About $35 per individual lesson; class sessions are typically sold in sets of 4 lessons for $140. Some classes such as the Spring Break Session have minor additional administrative fees.

Fees too much for your budget?  If you have a current EBT card, you qualify for discounted group lessons- every child needs to know how to swim. Send me an email mentioning this discount and we'll make arrangements. Subject to class availability.

Absolutely! Feel free to email me to request a copy of my personal and professional references and/or my background check report. These are gladly provided to prospective clients. If you'd like to leave a review, enter your submission under the Reviews button at the top of the page.
